Demo Released and Steam Page Up!

Hi guys, I thought I'd make a post here to talk about what's happened with Cityscape Sprint so far and what's to come.

So to start off, for those who don't know Cityscape Sprint started as an Entry to the 19th ScoreSpace Jam. I had a lot of fun participating in it and I got some great feedback, so I decided to make it into a full game over the summer.

Once my internship ended at the end of June I decided to start work. I made a steam page:

A design document and a development roadmap - then I got to work.

That was about a month ago, between then and now I've been chipping away at that development roadmap and now I'm at a point where all the major systems are ready, I've done a couple passes on the first couple levels, and I've got some basic polish in. So I decided to release a demo and get some people other than my family and friends to offer feedback (hopefully).

So what's next? Well I've set the release date for a month from now (19th August 2022). Between then and now I want to add:

  • 9 more levels
  • 3 new mechanics
    • Destructible geometry
    • An AI opponent
    • A teleporter
  • A bunch of bug fixes
  • Another pass on the visuals and sound effects
  • A lot of playtesting/tweaking for balance and game feel
  • Steam achievements and steam cloud saves
  • More polish
  • Act on feedback

I've been working out loud on twitter:

So if you want to follow along with development the best bet is to check me out there.

Thanks for reading, have a nice day.
